Keckiella breviflora - Yawning Penstemon
Keckiella breviflora is a midsized shrub growing 3-5 feet tall. Keckiella breviflora goes by the common name Yawning Penstemon. Keckiella breviflora grows in the California Coastal and Sierra mountain ranges from the Chaparral to the Yellow Pine communities. Keckiella breviflora has broad lavender pink tubular flowers late Spring into Summer. The flowers are fragrant and attract hummingbirds and bees including this Yellow Faced Bumblebee and the Common Buckeye and variable checkerspot butterflies making this a nice addition to the Butterfly Garden and Hummingbird Garden. Keckiella breviflora is Winter hardy to 0°F.
