Penstemon Evelyn
Penstemon Evelyn has slender rich pink flowers that bloom in our area late Spring through much of the Summer if the dead flower stalks are trimmed off. Penstemon Evelyn stays shorter than many of the other Penstemons at 12-18 inches tall, flowers included. Like most Beard Tongue's, Evelyn is good for 3 seasons or so and is best started fresh every few years. Penstemon Evelyn prefers regular moisture and good drainage but will tolerate somewhat drier conditions once established. Penstemon Evelyn is Winter hardy into the single digits. Penstemon Evelyn is a potential larval food source for the Variable Checkerspot and Common Buckeye Butterfly and could be a nice addition to your butterfly garden.
