Keckiella antirrhinoides - Yellow Bush Penstemon
Keckiella antirrhinoides is a compact shrub growing to 4-6 feet tall and wide. Keckiella antirrhinoides goes by various common names including Yellow Bush Penstemon, Snapdragon Penstemon and Chaparral Beardtongue. Keckiella antirrhinoides is native to the chaparral sections of the Southern California coastal mountain ranges and extends into the nearby Creosote and Juniper Woodland desert communities. The flowers fade to black and Keckiella antirrhinoides may go Summer deciduous. The flowers are fragrant and attract hummingbirds and the common buckeye and variable checkerspot butterfly making this a nice addition to the Butterfly Garden and Hummingbird Garden.
