Achillea millefolium Salmon Beauty * Salmon Beauty Yarrow

The soft green leaves of Achillea Salmon Beauty will tolerate foot traffic. Traffic is not so good for the flowers but brings up the scent of the fragrant foliage. Any of the Achillea millefolium varieties are a great lawn substitute. The blooms on Salmon Beauty are a soft pastel salmon fading to buff. Achillea Salmon Beauty will bloom in Spring and much of the Summer. The blooming season can readily be extending by removing the spent flower stalks. Yarrows are hardy in a significant drought but like a little water now and again and will look much better for it. I use Achillea Salmon Beauty in a perennial border or massed to give a long lasting soft pastel patch for a garden with warm colors. Achillea millefolium varieties make a great lawn substitute and germinate readily from seed.

Achillea Salmon Beauty is a nectar source for the Checkerspot Butterfly and the Painted Lady Butterfly Northern White Skipper, Mormon Metalmark, California Common Ringlet, Great Purple Hairstreak, and the White Checkered Skipper and is a great addition to the butterfly garden.
