Mimulus guttatus - Seep Monkey Flower, Yellow Monkey Flower, Golden Monkey Flower
Mimulus guttatus is a great wetland plant that should find its way into many gardens. Mimulus guttatus is the perfect plant for the low end of a lawn or just a boggy location in the yard. Mimulus guttatus is a streamside native. It will grow in sun or shade as long as there is enough moisture. The crown of the Seep Monkey Flower needs to be above the waterline and it can grow in a pond setting as well. Seep Monkey Flower plant will go dormant in the Winter. The Golden Monkey Flower is blooming nearly continuously from late spring until well into the Fall. I divide my Mimulus guttatus plants in the winter while they are dormant. Mimulus is a larval host for the Checkerspot and Common Buckeye Butterflies
