Mimulus bigelovii ~ Bigelow's Monkey Flower
Mimulus bigelovii is common in the desert parts of California. Mimulus bigelovii grows in sunny well drained scree and soils. Mimulus bigelovii is tolerant of alkaline soils. Bigelow's Monkey Flower grows to 3-6" tall. The flowers of Bigelow's Monkey Flower are deep pink with dark marking and yellow centered petals. Mimulus bigelovii blooms Winter into early Spring. If trying to plant Mimulus bigelovii in a container use a sand gravel mix as even cactus mix may have too much organic content. Mimulus bigelovii attracts the Common Buckeye and the Variable Checkerspot.
