Polypodium scouleri - Leathery Polypody
Polypodium scouleri grows in the shade in gaps between rocks or under trees and in rotting wood near the coast in the fog zone. Leathery Polypody spreads by stolons underground or near the surface and grows a foot or less in height. The native range of Polypodium scouleri starts north of Santa Barbara and on the Channel Islands and extends up to include Oregon and Washington. Polypodium scouleri grows by slowly spreading rhizomes.
