Adiantum jordanii ~ California Maidenhair Fern
Adiantum jordanii grows where Adiantum capillus veneris can't, up the slope into the woodlands and North facing slopes. The California Maidenhair Fern with its lacy foliage grows in near water areas as well as dryer sections where there is strong indirect light. During the dry Summer months Adiantum jordanii may go dormant and wait for conditions to improve. Adiantum jordanii will also sometimes be found poking out from under larger rocks in more exposed locations. The California Maidenhair Fern grows up to 6000 feet in the Sierra's and can take Winter temperatures in the low teens.
