Polypodium californicum - California Polypody
Polypodium californicum is often found on streambanks, rock crevices and North facing exposures throughout much of California and the Western US below an elevation of 4000 feet. California Polypody will grow on the surface of rocks in the shade. Polypodium californicum often goes dormant for the Summer when conditions start to dry out. Polypodium californicum is most often found on a slope or even on a near vertical surface. The foliage of the California Polypody is a verdant green throughout the Winter months.
