Eremophila glabra Mingenew Gold ~ Gold Emu Bush
Eremophila glabra Mingenew Gold forms a low spreading shrub, typically 1-2 feet tall by 6 feet wide or slightly larger. The gray-green foliage contrasting with the red tinged golden yellow flowers was what initially caught my attention. The Gold Emu Bush has proven to be quite drought tolerant and surprisingly cold tolerant. The long tubular flowers make this is a great addition to the Hummingbird Garden. Eremophila glabra Mingenew Gold blooms much of the Spring and Summer. Plants are were undamaged when Winter temperatures dipped into the low to mid teens. After a couple of seasons the older branches begin to fade. Some maintenance is required for Eremophila glabra Mingenew Gold, alas no free lunch. Regardless Eremophila glabra Mingenew Gold is a pretty easy plant to manage.
