Encelia ventorum is native to the coast of Baja California. The finely textured green leaves can bring a lush look to a desert garden. Encelia ventorum blooms with small dark centered yellow flowers from Spring through Fall. Encelia ventorum is tolerant of a range of soil types. Baja Bush Sunflower grows 3-5 feet tall and wide. Encelia ventorum is Winter hardy down to 25°F. The Baja Bush Sunflower is drought tolerant once established. Baja California gets Summer Monsoonal rainfall, so this is not a plant you can plant and walk away from. Butterflies are attracted to the flowers, birds like the seeds. Encelia ventorum attracts the Monarch, Common Buckeye, Painted Lady, Cloudless Sulfur, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, California Common Ringlet, Mormon Metalmark, Great Purple Hairstreak, Giant Swallowtail, and Spring Azure Butterflies.
