Melaleuca alternifolia - Tea Tree
Melaleuca alternifolia is will grow up to be a large shrub or small tree, growing up to 20 feet tall and sprawling until you tell it not to go further. The plant has been used medicinally, hence the common name. The creamy white flowers and foliage are fragrant. Melaleuca alternifolia is tolerant of most soil types and can handle boggy winter conditions. Melaleuca alternifolia is drought tolerant if the groundwater is not too deep. Plants do not tolerate shade, full sun makes them happy. It seems like Melaleuca alternifolia is almost always blooming. Melaleuca alternifolia is Winter hardy to something below 20°F
