Melaleuca quinquenervia - Paperbark Tree, Punk Tree
Melaleuca quinquenervia is a fast growing tree often used for screening. The Paperbark Tree has white peeling bark and 3" gray-green leaves. Numerous small branches sprout up and down the trunk. These branches often fade quickly requiring a fair amount of work to keep the Paperbark Tree looking its best. Melaleuca quinquenervia is native to the margins of wetlands in Australia. The Paperbark tree is quite drought tolerant in spite of this. Melaleuca quinquenervia produces white flowers at the tips of its branches in Summer and Fall. Melaleuca quinquenervia grows to 40 feet tall and about half that width. Melaleuca quinquenervia is hardy down to about 20°F
