Melaleuca hypericifolia - Hillock Bush
Melaleuca hypericifolia is a moderate to large shrub. In our garden we have tested the frost limits but Melaleuca hypericifolia has come through even when its condition looks pretty dire with all of the leaves and outer branches dead. The Hillock Bush will be happy if temperatures stay well into the 20's°F but will survive into the teens. Melaleuca hypericifolia blooms late Spring into Summer with terracotta red flowers that have just a hint of watermelon. The hummingbirds are happy. The Hillock bush forms a dense screen 6-10 feet tall. Melaleuca hypericifolia has been tested for drought and done well.
