Erigeron glaucus Sea Breeze ~ Pink Seaside Daisy
Erigeron Sea Breeze puts on a long lasting floriferous show. The spent flowers can be a distraction in a fastidious garden, thankfully they don't take that long to clean up. Over time Erigeron Sea Breeze tends to die out in the center. The various branches will all be rooted and this just makes for easier dividing. The pink flowers of Erigeron Sea Breeze are a food source for the Painted Lady Butterfly, California Dogface Butterfly, Hedgerow Hairstreak, Gray Hairstreak, Cloudless Sulfur, Common Buckeye, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, California Common Ringlet, Mormon Metalmark, Giant Swallowtail, and the White Line Sphinx Moth and is a great addition to the butterfly garden. While the Pink Seaside Daisy is drought hardy if planted in a protected location the plants look pretty scrappy if they don't get at least semi-regular water. Erigeron Sea Breeze can be planted in full Sun near the coast, but prefers mid-day shade in inland gardens. Plants are Winter hardy into the low teens.
