Erigeron argentatus has blue flowers with yellow centers in the early Spring. The Silver Fleabane is a perennial that grows from a taproot and branches from the base. Erigeron argentatus grows from a foot to 18" tall. The flowers of the Silver Fleabane are a food source for the Painted Lady Butterfly, California Dogface Butterfly, Cloudless Sulfur, as well as the Common Buckeye, Gray Hairstreak, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, Mormon Metalmark, Hedgerow Hairstreak, Giant Swallowtail, Great Purple Hairstreak, and the White Lined Sphinx Moth and is a great addition to the butterfly garden. Erigeron argentatus needs good drainage and performs best with a little protection from a rock or shrub in the hottest locations..
