Alstroemeria psittacina ~ Parrot Lily (Syn. Alstroemeria pulchella)
Alstroemeria psittacina is a rambunctiously spreading perennial. The Parrot Lily is more drought tolerant than our natural rainfall and will persist in the dry garden quite enthusiastically. Alstroemeria psittacina grows 2-3 feet tall and can spread as much as a foot a year. Parrot Lily plants are great as cut flowers. Alstroemeria psittacina blooms Spring and Summer. The flowers are red outside and the tips of the petals are green with lots of interesting dark markings inside. Plants are Winter deciduous and Winter hardy at least to zone 7, and likely more with mulch protection. Lily of the Inca's and Peruvian Lily are other common names for Alstroemeria psittacina
