Lepechinia salviae * Chilean Pitcher Sage
Lepechinia salviae is a 4' by 6' wide shrub. The leaves and flowers of the Chilean Pitcher Sage are fragrant. Lepechinia salviae is drought tolerant and will need little or no help once established. Magenta purple flowers are held above the gray foliage from Spring through Fall. Plant the Chilean Pitcher Sage in full sun. The Chilean Pitcher Sage has a strong resemblence to Lepechinia hastata. Hummingbirds and Butterflies like the Mournful Duskywing, Spring Azure, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, and Cloudless Sulfur will often be attracted too. Lepechinia salviae is winter hardy down to 15° F.
