Euphorbia cyathophora ~ Fire on the Mountain, Painted Leaf
Euphorbia cyathophora, commonly called Fire on the Mountain or Painted Leaf, is an annual in the Spurge family. Euphorbia cyathophora will freely reseed in a garden that is kept on the dry side. Scatter some seeds and step back, this is an excellent plant for the laissez faire wildflower garden. Fire on the Mountain will grow in full sun to light shade in areas that don't get too much traffic. Euphorbia cyathophora is a great choice for filling gaps between all of the other plants with these tropical Poinsettia relatives. The flowers are yellow and small, it is the splash of orange leaves that puts on the show. The sap of plants in the Spurge family is often a skin irritant.
