Buddleia davidii Pink Delight * Pink Delight Butterfly Bush
The Pink Butterfly Bush, Buddleia Pink Delight is a tame Butterfly Bush, if there is one at 8' or more. Like the other Buddleia's, Buddleia Pink Delight will do well with a hard haircut once or twice per year. The flowers of Buddleia Pink Delight turn brown as they die but do not fall off the plants. A couple of leaf nodes below the flowers new shoots form. I trim off the flowers at this point several times until the plants get too big. Buddleia Pink Delight prefers good soil but will hang in there even in some of the most difficult conditions. Buddleia davidii cultivars are hardy to 0° F or below. Buddleia can produce seedlings, and can become a pest in some situations. In areas adjacent to wild lands it is probably best to plant something else.
Buddleia Pink Delight attracts the Monarch, Gulf Fritillary, Pale Tiger Swallowtail, Western Tiger Swallowtail, Red Admiral, Mournful Duskywing, and Umber Skipper Butterfly and is a great choice for a butterfly or hummingbird garden in a hot Summer climate.
