Artemisia arborescens Huntington ~ Wormwood
This robust Artemisia can get to 5-6 feet tall and wide. The crisply shaped leaves give a pleasingly soft texture on this large shrub. The leaves are not as finely divided as Artemisia arborescens Powis Castle or as broadly pinnate as the species. The margins of the leaves are enhanced by a thickening or lighter colored margin. The size is also intermediate between the still larger wild species and the smaller Artemisia powis castle. I love to use red and gray foliage to provide high contrast in the garden. This works well with plants with colored foliage such as Phormium, Pennisetum setaceum rubrum. The plants are Winter hardy to 15° or lower.
