Verbena bonariensis Little One is a great perennial for the cut flower garden. This is a dwarf version of the six foot tall perennial that reaches 18-24 inches tall. Verbena bonariensis Little One will attract bees and butterflies. I cut the plants nearly to the ground each winter. Rooted suckers and seedlings are fairly common but not too difficult to keep to reasonable numbers. Starting in mid to late spring through Fall there are numerous clusters of purple flowers. Some removal of the spent flowers will keep your Verbena bonariensis Little One blooming continuously. The Monarch Butterflies, Giant Swallowtail, Gray Hairstreak, Mournful Duskywing, Umber Skipper Butterfly, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, and Variable Checkerspot will come by for nectar if they are around.
