Teucrium marum - Cat Thyme
Teucrium marum is one of the most fragrant herbs I have come across. The Cat Thyme smells more than a little medicinal when touched or brushed against. I have yet to test Teucrium marum as a cat attractant, so far i have only grown the Cat Thyme in dog inhabited gardens. Teucrium marum blooms much of the year making small purple flowers at the tips of the growing stems. Teucrium marum grows 8" to a foot tall and spreads a little more than a foot. Teucrium marum is quite drought tolerant. Cat Thyme has grown well in a variety of soil types, though it is unlikely to do well in soggy conditions. Teucrium marum was not damaged by Winter temperatures in the low teens. Teucrium marum stems gradually age, plants are renewed by a periodic shearing nearly to ground level.
