Teucrium ackermannii - Silver Germander
Teucrium ackermannii will slowly spread to 18" wide and stays 3-4" tall. This germander is a good plant for large containers and rock gardens. I try to plant Teucrium ackermannii in well drained soils or at least on a slope and at a minimum I give plants a drying out period between watering cycles. I have not had any problems with cold, even in landscapes that have temperatures that dip into the teens. Teucrium ackermannii will bloom most heavily in the spring with vivid purple flowers, sporadically in the Summer and has a nice rebloom in the Fall. The foliage has a strong pleasant aroma when pinched.
