Lewisia rediviva - Bitterroot
Lewisia rediviva is the Bitterroot of Lewis and Clark fame. Lewisia rediviva has a wide range extending from British Columbia through Montana where it is the state flower, and on to montane Southern California. Lewisia blooms in the Spring with pale pink to white flowers and then goes dormant. Excessive Summer water without perfect drainage is often the end for this plant. Lewisia rediviva is often a gorgeous addition to the rock garden. A number of hybrids are periodically available at various nurseries.
