Leucadendron discolor - Flame Tips
Leucadendron discolor has one of the more striking flower color combinations. Flame Tips flowers last very well when cut. Leucadendron discolor grows to 5-6 feet tall and wide. Leucadendron discolor can be covered in striking red blossoms and creamy yellow bracts from Winter and into Spring. Flame Tips plants do not tolerate phosphate fertilizers (that is the middle number of the NPK chart on your fertilizer bag) and they prefer well drained soil. Due to the salinity of our Southern California water we often amend around Leucadendron discolor with soil sulfur each year. Winter temperatures of 20° F left the plants still blooming
