Glaucium flavum - Yellow Horned Poppy, Hornpoppy
Glaucium flavum grows well in dry soils high in lime. The Yellow Horned Poppy is a biennial or short lived perennial. Glaucium flavum is often difficult to transplant from containers and extra care should be taken when handling the rootball. The Yellow Horned Poppy blooms Spring into Fall with beautiful yellow flowers. Glaucium flavum grows 2-3 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide in a favored location. Glaucium flavum grows in full sun but will tolerate light shade during part of the day. Glaucium flavum is native to Western Europe and the Mediterranean. The Yellow Horned Poppy is Winter hardy to zone 6.
