Salvia microphylla Dark Dancer
Salvia microphylla Dark Dancer is exceptional in the garden. Salvia mueleri brings the rich purple color as one of the parents crossed with Salvia microphylla. The variety Dark Dancer is dense with flowers and makes an enthusiastic garden plant. This Sage does as well in light shade as full sun. The Salvia microphylla Dark Dancer specimens in the ground have gotten about 2.5 feet tall and twice that wide. They look a little ratty in the winter so I cut them back and get an early flush of flowers in March. The plants are almost always in bloom from Spring through late Fall when it finally gets too cold. Salvia microphylla Dark Dancer is a great addition to both the Butterfly Garden as well as the Hummingbird Garden.
