Salvia muelleri - Royal Purple Autumn Sage
Salvia muelleri looks like a softer version of Salvia greggii with green leaves on a low green shrub. It has typically grown 2.5' tall by the same width. I love the rich purple blooms. Salvia muelleri almost always has a few blossoms. I have not had any of the Royal Purple Autumn Sage plants suffer cold damage, even with temperatures dipping into the low 20°s F. I have grown it in full sun to light shade and it has performed well in both. Plants are much less prone to breakage than Salvia greggii. Salvia muelleri is a great addition to both the hummingbird garden as well as the butterfly garden.
