Rhamnus californica Eve Case - Coffee Berry
Rhamnus californica Eve Case is a native to the Oak woodland habitat. I am always looking for beautiful plants that grow under oaks in the wild. The oak woodland is chalk full of stuff growing there besides the trees. Too often our landscapes are filled with water loving plants that eventually are the demise of the native Oak trees. Rhamnus californica Eve Case grows to 8' has clean green leaves a Spring bloom of small white flowers and in the Fall and Winter through Spring these reddish brown berries. Coffee Berry can be trimmed into a hedge or screen or left natural. I have found Rhamnus californica Eve Case to be disease free and pretty easy to manage. The Coffee Berry can handle being mixed into the irrigated garden area or left to fend for itself. Rhamnus californica Eve Case is a larval food source for the Hedgerow Hairstreak, Pale Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies and the Western Tussock Moth Caterpillar is a great addition to the butterfly garden.
