Linum lewisii is a long blooming perennial with striking blue flowers from March well into Summer. Western Flax prefers full sun and will tolerate some irrigation. Linum lewisii is not particular about soils. The Western Flax looks best if trimmed back after blooming and again during the early Winter. Linum lewisii is likely to reseed. This is great for the wild garden, but it makes garden planning with the Western Flax a little chaotic. Linum lewisii grows 2-3 feet tall from a relatively narrow base.
