Layia platyglossa - Tidy Tips
Layia platyglossa is often included in wildflower seed mixes. The annual Tidy Tips is typically 6 inches to a foot tall if it is mixed in other plants. I have most often found Layia platyglossa in meadows and roadsides where at times it can densly enough to almost completely cover. Tidy Tips blooms with yellow flowers tipped with white in April and May. It is best to spread seed with the first significant rains in the Fall. Layia platyglossa is a dependable plant from seed for your wildflower garden. Layia platyglossa is a fine addition to the Spring Butterfly Garden, Tidy Tips flowers attract the White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, Great Purple Hairstreak, Hedgerow Hairstreak, California Common Ringlet, Mormon Metalmark, and Painted Lady Butterflies.
