Kalanchoe luciae * Paddle Plant, Flapjacks, Desert Cabbage
Kalanchoe luciae is a colorful addition to the succulent garden. Paddle Plant has leaves well described by its common name. Kalanchoe luciae grows to 2 feet tall, flower stalks may grow to 4 feet. The yellow flowers are surrounded by white powdery succulent leaves. The 4" leaves of Kalanchoe luciae turn red with cold weather and more so with a shady planting. Other common names include Flapjacks and Desert Cabbage. Kalanchoe luciae requires a dry planting or excellent drainage. Kalanchoe luciae is native to South Africa. Kalanchoe luciae is Winter hardy into the mid 20°'s F.
