Gaura Dark Pink - Wand Flower
Gaura Dark Pink has darker flowers, shorter flower stalks and red foliage compared the parent species Gaura linheimeri. Gaura Dark Pink grows from 1 - 2 feet tall and wide. The dark pink flowers are beautiful but the red tinted foliage is useful in the garden regardless. At the end of the season I trim Gaura Dark Pink almost to the ground. The old flower spikes are all dead sticks by this time. I have not met anybody calling these plants by any common name but Gaura. Gaura Dark Pink is not picky about soil type and will get by on a pretty stingy water diet. Gaura Dark Pink won't do well in shady sections. And yes Gaura Dark Pink does attract bees.
