Salvia adenophora * Oaxaca Red Sage

Salvia adenophora is a long blooming sage almost never without flowers except during the coldest weeks of Winter. In our garden Salvia adenophora has grown 5 feet tall and gradually spread to 8 feet. Salvia adenophora spreads by underground rhizomes. Our record breaking freeze a few years back knocked off the foliage. Temperatures hovered in the mid teens several nights running. Salvia adenophora was back and blooming inside the month. The slender red flowers make Salvia adenophora a good addition to the hummingbird garden and the butterfly garden
