Smilacina racemosa - False Solomon's Seal
This Smilacina racemosa was photographed in well drained soil at 8,000 feet in the Sierras it also grows at my house in an coast influenced valley at 650 feet. The variegated form of Smilacina racemosa at my house was growing from under a rock gaining the extra moisture from the shade of the rocks. False Solomon's Seal got to 2 feet tall and small white flowers smelled heavenly. I give Smilacina racemosa regular water and it is growing well. Smilacina racemosa has been manipulated in the garden and comes in a variegated form as well.
