Salvia melissodora is native to the mountains of Mexico at elevations of 4,000-8,000 feet where it has been used by the local people for herbal remedies. Salvia melissodora blooms with blue flowers Spring through Fall. The Grape Scented Sage is a free flowering shrub that is fragrant and attracts hummingbirds and insects. Melissa means bee attracting. The grape scented sage is hardy to 20° F. Salvia melissodora is a great addition to the dry shade garden, the hummingbird garden and the butterfly garden.
