Altissimo Rose * Introduced in 1966

The Altissimo Rose is one of my favorites. The large single flowers grow at the tips of the canes. The canes can grow 6-10 feet. While this rose is a Florabunda Rose it robust enough that it is often treated as a climing rose. I have grown the Altissimo Rose both as a large shrub rose and espaliered and it performs well against a fence or a hot wall. The Altissimo Rose has few disease problems. The flowers individually or in clusters at the branch tips are spectacular. The petals look like velvet.
