Paulownia kawakamii ~ Sapphire Dragon Tree

Paulonia kawakamii looks tropical and grows quickly. The Sapphire Dragon Tree has beautiful blue flowers in the Spring. If not pruned regularly the tree can break itself down under its own weight. The large leaves and many flowers can be a bit of a chore to clean up during their seasons. While noted for having deep roots Paulonia kawakamii has lifted walls and patios on my projects. Best to plant the Sapphire Dragon Tree away from structures. Paulonia kawakamii is Winter hardy to below 10°F.
