Cistus Second Honeymoon ~ Variegated Rockrose

Cistus Second Honeymoon is a variegated hybrid rockrose. The leaves vary from yellow on the margins to grey-green in the center. Cistus Second Honeymoon is a shrub growing slowly to 4 feet tall and wide. Cistus Second Honeymoon produces 3" white flowers early in the Spring in our area, later as you go north. Cistus Second Honeymoon is drought tolerant and prefers decent drainage by planting aboved the surrounding grade or on a slope. Cistus Second Honeymoon and other rockroses respond poorly to hard pruning. I try to leave green leaves below the point on the branch where I trim them. Hedge trimmers often leave bare zones that never recover so I prefer to prune by hand. Cistus Second Honeymoon is a hybrid with Cistus cobariensis as one of the parents.
