Ceanothus maritimus Valley Violet ~ Maritime Ceanothus

Ceanothus maritimus Valley Violet is a darker blue selection, paler blue Ceanothus maritimus Frosty Dawn, and the white Ceanothus maritimus Popcorn. Ceanothus Valley Violet grows up to 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Ceanothus maritimus is rare in the wild growing along the coast from west of Santa Barbara to the Bay Area. For hot inland gardens consider inland species like Ceanothus greggii. Ceanothus maritimus Valley Violet is tolerant of heavier soils but will not abide by much summer irrigation. The Maritime Ceanothus will host Western Tussock Moth Caterpillars if they are in your area.
