Arctostaphylos densiflora Howard McMinn * Vine Hill Manzanita

Arctostaphylos Howard McMinn is a medium sized California native shrub that grows nearly as well in dry shade as in full sun. The small leaves and dense foliage of Arctostapyhlos Howard McMinn makes a great screen. Arctostaphylos Howard McMinn has more flowers per square inch than any other manzanita I have planted. I have seen individual plants get to 4' tall and 6' across. While Vine Hill Manzanita is a fairly easy garden plant it requires a drying out period between summer irrigation cycles and reasonably well drained soil. Arctostaphylos Howard McMinn is a nectar source for the Monarch Butterfly and the California Dogface Butterfly and a great addition to the butterfly garden. Arctostaphylos Howard McMinn is a host plant for the Western Tussock Moth Caterpillar.
